AFTE Store - Reproducibility of Impressed and Striated Toolmarks: 4d Cut Flooring Nails

The manufacturing of 4d cut flooring nails and the resulting toolmarks have been previously presented. In this study, six sample nails were collected every 1000 nails from an entire production run of nails. Impressed toolmarks on the head and nail flat, and striated toolmarks on the nail edges, were examined for reproducibility, identifiability, and the effect of damage or wear to the tool’s working surface.
