AFTE Store - Safety Notch: Design Dangers Through the Ages

This is a historical design and “State of The Art” review of the SAFETY NOTCH as a basic type of firearm safety device. Although history clearly established at an early date the ineffectiveness of the safety notch as the primary safety in exposed hammer guns, the firearms industry has been slow to react. An analysis of patents and industry literature provides the basis for this review. Arrangement of the material is in a chronological order.
