AFTE Store - Shotgun Modified after a Domestic Shooting
In Turkey shotguns are often used in fatal and non-fatal shooting incidents, particularly in rural areas. Occasionally parts of a gun are destroyed or altered after a gun as been fired in order to prevent it from being linked to a shooting incident. In this case study, an incident is discussed involving a 12 bore Turkish manufactured Matador self loading shotgun. It was found that, after it had been used, the firing pin had been replaced with a nail. However, it was still possible to conclusively connect the recovered fired cartridge cases to the seized shotgun.
