Correspondence between Firearms Examiner David Brundage and Roy Jinks concerning a Smith & Wesson model 147A that was recovered in Chicago. According to Roy Jinks the model 147A was originally stamped 47 or A471 and sold to various distributors. This firearm was in preparation for the release of the model 539/559. A total of 112 firearms were sold under the initial design.
