Subclass Characteristics on CCI Speer Cartridge Case Heads

Microscopic examination and comparison of evidence CCI Speer discharged cartridge case heads revealed unusual, yet similar, striation patterns from different crime scenes. These subclass characteristics have been found on a variety of evidence caliber casings as well as unfired cartridges from the NYPD ammunition supply. This phenomenon was investigated and a common source was identified.
