AFTE Store - Technical Report: Remington 700 EtronX

The Remington 700 EtronX is a bolt-action rifle that operates on an electronic ignition system with a specific EtronX ammunition to improve the accuracy of the firearms operator by shortening the lock time compared to a traditional percussion ignition system. As forensic firearms examiners need to be aware of the latest technologies within the field, this technical report discusses the mechanical and electronic features of the Remington 700 EtronX. Examples include no firing pin mark being present due to the non-striking nature of the mechanism and documentation of the adjustment screw’s position upon receiving the firearm for trigger pull testing.
