AFTE Store - Test Firing a Pattern 1914 Rifle With a Hole Through the Chamber

A British Enfield, Pattern 1914 rifle was submitted to the laboratory to test for operability. The firearm appears to have been
converted into a drill purpose (DP) firearm (used for training exercises or during ceremonies) as indicated by a hole through
the chamber and the characters ‘DP’ stamped on it. Even with the modifications, this firearm was operable as received with
both dummy cartridges and primed, empty cartridge cases. The firearm was further tested with unaltered cartridges using a
remote firing station, resulting in unusual damage to the cartridge cases.
