AFTE Store - Testing Different Substrates to Reduce Hollow Point Expansion When Bullets are Fired into a Water Tank

Observations of over-expansion of hollow point bullets fired into a water tank while using a clay substrate to fill the hollow point cavity led to the undertaking of an experiment to test different types of media to fill hollow point cavities. The experiment used several different types of media to determine if one medium performed better than others in minimizing or preventing expansion while test firing into a water tank. It was determined that Mighty Putty was the best medium to prevent expansion using different types of hollow points across a range of calibers.
