AFTE Store - The Use of Dip-Pak as a Means of Bullet Recovery

Oiled sawdust, cotton and water are the three most commonly used bullet recovery materials used by firearms examiners. None of these can be classed as a universal recovery material (i.e. capable of being used to recover any fired projectile). In an effort to determine the recovery capabilities of a new material, tests were conducted at the Edmonton Laboratory of the R.C.M. Police using Dip-Pak 661 and comparing test bullets recovered from this media with bullets from the same set of firearms recovered in water and cotton.
