AFTE Store - TRAX for Toolmarks

A database for storing images of toolmarks (named TRAX) is developed on a PC with Microsoft Windows. The database is filled with digitized video-images and further data on the administrational data about the toolmark (width, kind of toolmark, etc.). The database is tested in two police regions in the Netherlands. In a new project an algorithm for automatic comparison of digitized striation patterns has been developed. The algorithm appears to work fine for good quality striation marks. New algorithms have been developed for making a faster preselection of images. It appears that better standards (for example coaxial light) are required for acquiring the images.
