AFTE Store - Trigger Malfunction in a Stag Arms Stag-15 Model Rifle – A Reminder About Safety Precautions

A Stag Arms AR-15 rifle was submitted by a local law enforcement agency as part of the investigation of an officer-involved shooting. Upon initial examination and dry firing, it became apparent that the trigger operated similarly to that of a binary trigger. Further test firing and analysis confirmed the malfunction. The apparent reason for the malfunction was determined to be a broken hammer pin, which caused the hammer and sear to be misaligned causing the disconnector to malfunction.
