Potential for Subclass Carryover
Die Casting – (1) a casting made in a die. (2) a casting process in which molten metal is forced under high pressure into the cavity of a metal mold.
Potential subclass carryover is possible on items produced using the die casting method. These potential subclass characteristics arise from surface features within the mold cavity that maybe reproduced on multiple workpiece created using the same mold. Features such as mold parting lines or “gate” areas where the molten metal is injected into the mold maybe be visible on the workpiece indicating it was made using a casting process.
However, individual characteristics may still be present on work pieces created using the die casting method. If an item, which is die cast, under goes additional machining or finishing processes such as abrasive blasting, broaching, grinding etc., individual characteristics maybe imparted to the item by those methods. See those listings for more information on these manufacturing methods.
