Definition

No Potential for Subclass Carryover

EDWC (Electrical Discharge Wire Cutting) – A special form of electrical discharge machining wherein the electrode is a continuous moving conductive wire. Also referred to as traveling wire electrical discharge machining.

Subclass carryover would not be expected on a work piece machined using EDWC.  This is due to the random nature of the interaction of the arc between the wire electrode and the work piece.  The surface of the work piece may have a pitted, granular like appearance when viewed under magnification.
